Pilates is a type of exercise that designed to strengthen, stretch and balance the body. The movements and the breathing patterns of the exercises are quite specific. These specific combinations influence and enhance re-training and coordination. The result is a gentle yet dramatic change in core strength, ease of movement
and posture.

Class Offerings

Reformer

The reformer is a wonderful piece of equipment with a gliding carriage and springs to assist you in natural movement and developing healthy movement patterns. Most exercises are done lying down or seated. Reformer classes are a great place to start if you are new to Pilates!

Pole

Pole class is done using two upright poles attached to the wall.  A multitude of springs and hinged guides support your movement.  During the class you may be lying down, sitting and even standing. Pole is a great way to stretch out those sore tight muscles while building core strength. You will leave feeling better than when you came in!

Chair

Chair is a great class for those familiar with Pilates and want to try something new. The chair class will test and progress your balance and strength.  Many of the chair exercises are done in a standing or sitting position, further challenging the Pilates fundamentals.

Mat

In this class you will learn Pilates exercises on a mat – without the support of the equipment or the springs.  Your Pilates instructor will tax your strength and coordination as you move through the exercise without allowing faulty movement patterns or substitutions.

Pilates Mat Class is arguably the most challenging of all the Pilates classes. Previous Pilates experience is strongly recommended. You may use small equipment such as the foam roller, Magic Circle®, or Therabands®.

Private/Semi-Private

This is a tailored one-on-one session (or two-on-one for semi-private) in which the instructor will guide you through Pilates using all of the equipment. If you are new to Pilates, we recommend starting with our Fundamental Series, then transferring into a private setting for a few sessions, then moving on to classes.

Mat/Pole Combo

This class combines the challenge of Mat with the support of Pole.  The 50-minute session will help increase your strength and skill with Pilates Mat fundamentals interspersed with periods of assistance from the Pole equipment.

Mat/Chair Combo

This class combines the challenge of Mat with the fun of Chair.  The 50-minute session will help increase your skill with Pilates Mat exercises interspersed with periods of Chair exercises to increase your strength and balance.

Traditional  Classes – 25-Minutes in length

Mat
With no support from the equipment, a full 50-minute Mat class can be quite challenging. So, we have created a 25-minute Mat class using selected, traditional Mat exercises.  This shorter session allows you to experience the benefit of Mat work as you build strength and endurance without fatigue, which can cause faulty or unsafe movements.

Reformer

Progressing on the reformer requires increasing amounts of strength, stability and coordination.  More props and tools are added to challenge you as you improve your skill and confidence.  These advances can be quite challenging when done for a full 50-minute session, so we have added a 25-minute session to aid in your success. This session can be used when starting reformer classes or as a transition when progressing from beginning to intermediate reformer, or as a focused refresher to help you with the details.
